Vesta Cay is a four year initiative entering its second year on June 30, 2025. In 2023, VC received a generous grant of USD$5000 from the Diaspora Solidarities Lab, which covered over a year of expenses, inclusive of: project management, operating expenses, administrative costs, campaigns, collaborator stipends and workshop participant stipends. This funding has been exhausted. In other words, it don!

We are fundraising to cover costs for 2025-2026. Vesta Cay started as a small project and grew beyond its intended expectations and impact. To continue and grow the work being done at Vesta Cay, the island must go through some changes. Vesta Cay is restructuring to diversify the offerings and redistribute the labour that keeps this project alive. This means taking on a more collaborative approach, ensuring diversity in perspective and that no individual is tasked beyond their capacity.

Donations will go towards:

• Covering website, domain, telecommunication and other digital fees.

• Expanding the archive

  • fees for newspaper and web-based archival access, digitizing material entries, organisation of artefacts.

• Restructuring operations and redistributing labour

  • creating and compensating a team of 5-7 personnel from the community to support administrative, archival, publication, events and community needs.

• Venue fees, material expenses for in-person and virtual programming.

• Stipends for workshop facilitators and participants.
